The 4-Line Pitch Formula That Gets Brand Responses

A brand pitch is a business proposal. Its success is entirely determined by what you lead with.

The fundamental failure of most brand pitches: they lead with what the sender wants — promotion, exposure, income — rather than with what the recipient gets. This structural error makes the pitch immediately ignorable, because it asks a busy marketing manager to invest their most limited resource (attention and time) in service of someone else's goals.

The pitches that work lead with the recipient's benefit, demonstrate genuine familiarity with their work, propose a specific value exchange, and ask for the lowest-commitment possible next step.

The 4-Line Formula:

Line 1 — The Specific Genuine Compliment: Prove you've actually used the product and consumed enough brand content to say something specific. "I've been using for [duration] — it's become a core part of my [specific routine]. I mentioned it without any sponsorship in a recent post and got 40+ comments asking about it." This demonstrates authentic use. Authentic use is the foundation of authentic recommendation.

Line 2 — Who You Are (Value-First, One Sentence): Not your follower count. Your audience's value to their target market. "I create [content type] for [audience description] — [follower count] highly engaged followers who are specifically interested in [their product category]."

Line 3 — The Specific Collaboration Concept: Don't make them imagine it — describe it. "I'd love to create [specific format] showcasing [specific product feature] for [specific occasion/context] — I have a concept that I think would resonate particularly well with [their target customer]." Specific concepts signal professionalism and creativity that generic requests don't.

Line 4 — The Low-Commitment Ask: Not "let's partner" — "would a 15-minute call to explore this make sense?" Minimal friction. Easy yes.
